Sepang Circuit History
The Malaysian Grand Prix has been a staple on the Formula 1 Calendar since 1999. All these years, it has bene held at the Sepang Circuit, providing fans with spectacular F1 performances in an outstanding atmosphere. From 1962 to 1965, the Malaysian Grand Prix was held on the Thomson Road Circuit in Singapore, as the country then was part of the Malaysian Federation. The Sepang circuit has also hosted a range of other famous motorsport races, such as Tasman Series, Formula Pacific, Formula Atlantic, Formula Two and Formula Holden. The Malaysian MotoGP is also a popular event that guests the track annually. The Malaysian Grand Prix was cut from the 2018 F1 calendar as high event costs and low ticket sales long had been in discussion. Finally, the grand prix chiefs made a joint decision to end the contract early. The event was replaced by the German Grand Prix for the 2018 season.
