One of the most fascinating facts about the historical Czechoslovakian Grand Prix, was that it was the first race held behind what was once the Iron Curtain, in Eastern Europe. With 13 laps on a 13.94km road circuit through wonderful picturesque villages surrounding the city of Brno, it was always an interesting race to visit. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, in order to revitalise racing in the area, a new fantastically fast circuit was built in a natural bowl just outside the city, and in 1993 the event was revived as the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic.
